For any drawn part where low tooling costs, quick turn-around, and a superior surface finish are important, hydroforming is an ideal alternative to conventional deep-drawing methods, such as hydraulic or mechanical presses. The more complex the part, the greater the savings, with hydroforming usually requiring just a single operation per part for most geometric shapes. Finishing costs are reduced as well due to the virtual elimination of draw marks.

Virtually any type of sheet metal may be hydroformed, ferrous or non-ferrous, and a variety of metal thicknesses may be used without the need to rework tooling which can be developed with much less time and cost than hard tooling since a ring and punch are all that is needed.

On the other hand, hydroforming cannot perform punching or secondary operations. When the finished part requires these operations, secondary tooling is required, or alternate comparative operations must be used, which we can provide.
